Crispy Fried Mozzarella Cheese Appetizer Recipe
Fried mozzarella cheese or fried mozzarella sticks is a perfect appetizer. It is crunchy on the outside and very creamy on the inside. I tend to prefer fried mozzarella sticks to mozzarella balls. I think that it is easier to eat as an appetizer.
I also think that when you make your own fried mozzarella, you can control the quality of the cheese better than when you use frozen pre-made ones from the supermarket.
For this recipe, I am using quite a big block of cheese which I cut into medallions and then into sticks. You can do it another way around for example if you are making fried mozzarella balls.
You don't have to make them in the shape of steaks or sticks. You can simply slice up a block of mozzarella and bread it before frying it up into delicious squares of golden brown cheesy goodness!
Fried Mozzarella Cheese Ingredients:
- Mozzarella cheese
- All-purpose flour
- Eggs
- Milk
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Oregano
- Breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
- Tomato sauce
How To Make Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
- Slice the cheese into about 1/2 –inch (1cm) thick. You can slice the cheese into steaks, sticks, circles or any shape that you like.
- Set up a breading station: in one bowl place flour, in second bowl mix breadcrumbs with salt and oregano, in second bowl whisk eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
- Coat each cheese piece with flour, then dip in egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs. To make it extra crispy make another layer of coating; dip in egg mixture again and coat with breadcrumbs.
- In a pan heat oil to 350F (180C).
- Fry mozzarella pieces until golden brown, about 1 minute on each side.
- Drain the oil and serve with homemade tomato sauce.

This fried mozzarella recipe is one of my favorite appetizer recipes. It's extremely simple to make and it tastes delicious. It can be served as fried mozzarella steaks, fried mozzarella sticks or even fried mozzarella balls. This dish is a perfect appetizer and ideal when it served with homemade tomato sauce.
